This past year has been a period of transition for the National Safety Council. Our work, however, has remained steadfastly focused on creating a world where people are able to live their fullest lives, free from preventable injury and death.
It has been an honor to step into the leadership role at NSC to ensure that our impact starts from our workplace safety core and grows from there to anyplace. Harnessing the power of our members, in 2019 we unveiled a major initiative that explores the promise of workplace safety technology, reached new audiences on safe vehicle and driving practices, and developed resources that help employers tackle pressing impairment issues such as fatigue and opioid misuse.
As a nonprofit organization, we continue to reinvest income from our training, events, education and philanthropy back into our mission work. We are also grateful to the individuals, corporations and foundations who contributed nearly $4 million in philanthropic donations this past year in order to make a difference in people’s lives.
Looking into 2020 and beyond, we have redoubled our commitment to focusing on our people, our customers, the impact we’re making through our products, services and advocacy, and our financial growth. As NSC continues to grow, so will our reach for greater impact. Looking at our work through this lens will enable us to lead with purpose and effectiveness as we seek to make workers and communities safer.
Together with our members, partners and volunteers, we will be safe, bold and impactful, from the workplace to anyplace.
