The National Safety Council was founded in 1913 to make workplaces safer for employees. Over a century later, people are more than nine times more likely to die from a preventable injury off the job than on the job. However, 2018 marked the first year since 2012 that the total recordable cases rate for workplace injuries and illnesses did not decline. Every employee deserves a safe work environment and to return home safely at the end of each work day.

After a successful rebrand and launch of the NSC Southern Conference & Expo in 2018, returned to New Orleans in 2019 with nearly 1,000 safety professionals attending from the Gulf Coast region

Awarded the Green Cross for Safety Excellence Award, sponsored by Schneider Electric, to Nationwide for its Substance Use Response Plan, which educates leaders and associates, helps keep the Nationwide workplace safe and substance-free, and helps moderate benefit costs
Released the Fatigue at Work Employer Toolkit, which provides education and training resources, model policies, data collection tools and more, so employers can implement fatigue risk management programs
